About her:

She was born in Reading, England on October 5th 1975. Her father is Roger, also an actor, her mother’s name is Sally, she’s a qualified nanny. Her mother has acted as well, and she’s the daughter of two actors. No wonder Kate went into the acting business.
Kate has two sisters, both actresses. Anna is her older sister, and Beth is her younger sister. She also has a younger brother, Joss, and he has ambitions to be an actor as well.

“Well all my family act so I sort of always knew I wanted to do it and I think it was probably when I was cast as Mary in my school nativity when I was five...” Kate’s grandparents managed a sixty-seat theater in their backyard in Reading, where they presented musicals and plays.

It was a family thing. We’re all big eaters. My uncle is a chef. My mother is a fantastic cook. Kind of unavoidable. I sensibly lost the weight doing Weigh Watchers. End of story.”

She made her television-debut in the British television drama “Shrinks” in 1988, after that she appeared in several television series. In 1989 she did “Casualty”, in 1991 she was Reet in “Dark Season”, in 1992 she played Eleanor Sweet in “Get Back”, in 1993 she did “Anglo-Saxon Attitudes”. Kate also did some theaterwork. She appeared in “Pandora” a musical from Adrian Mole, played Wendy in “Peter Pan”, Sarah in “A Game Of Soldier” and got the role of Geraldine in “What The Butler Saw”. She received the Manchester Evening News Award for Best Supporting Actress as Geraldine.

After that she did several movies, for details go to the ‘Filmography’ section of this website. In chronological order:
Heavenly Creatures, A kid in King Arthur’s court, Sense and Sensibility, Jude, Hamlet, Titanic, Hideous Kinky and her last one is Holy Smoke.
So far Titanic was most succesful. Hideous Kinky was a small movie which wasquite something else from Titanic. We are waiting for Holy Smoke, a movie about a girl in a cult, shot in Australia with Harvey Keitel as deprogrammer. Holy Smoke will open in the Dutch theatres November 25, as I heard.

On 22nd November 1998 Kate married assistant director Jim Threapleton at All Saint’s Church in Reading. They meet at the set of Hideous Kinky in Morocco where they were both working.
